i went to the eye doctor (#87) and indeed needed a new prescription for my right eye. now it matches the left in near-total vision deficiency! fun fact: my doctor also grew up in lake forest, illinois (yet went to stevenson high school for some reason - maybe my home fries can try to explain that one to me). other observations: getting my super-thick lenses filed down to a wearable measure is muy expensivo, the glaucoma test hasn't gotten any better (waiting for that friendly little puff of air still makes my brow sweat), and getting one's pupils dilated can pretty much ruin your plans for the day. but on the plus side, i found a new favorite hobby in trying on glasses.
__________
i also hosted a little games night (#37), which i actually forgot could count towards the list. it came together rather hastily, and we only played one game, but i'm counting it because a) i'll take all the help i can get as work gets busier and i have less time for even non-list imperatives, b) the game took up the whole night, and c) i won.
the 5k (#74) was last weekend! i've been excited about this one for a while, and even took a couple practice jogs on my gym's treadmill. i was pretty pleased with my 37-minute time indoors, but i figured that between wind resistance, hills, and the ground no longer moving beneath my feet as if by magic, i wouldn't do nearly as well on race day. my plan was to run until i got tired, walk until i wasn't anymore, then start running again, etc, etc - and i stuck with it to get a final race time of 39:03. for my first-ever attempt, i'll take it!
what made it even better was having some great people join me for a worthy cause (supporting pro-choice candidates): maddox, sarah, jamie, luis, and tymmony helped comprise team "supercalivagilistic" (i cannot take credit for this name - though i think i want to). alison and hector also met up with us at the finish, and then we all went to el chupacabra for celebratory tacos y margaritas. i also collected a few donations from folks who couldn't make it to the event. pretty heartwarming stuff.
i totally forgot to take a picture at the finish line, so sarah and i tried to recreate our post-race exhaustion while waiting for the chips and salsa. she did it better - i look like i'm about to sneeze.great weather for a run around green lake also meant great weather for painting outdoors (#46). the day after the 5k i got started on the kitchen set we purchased via craigslist a few months ago. i only had time for the chairs, but so far so awesome. i'm more in love with the color every time i look at them.
also, raptor death monkey (#79) played a glorious final spring season game last week. we may not have won the match, but we certainly captured the hearts of several adoring fans. thanks to fuse, the bus, and raptor friends and family for one last rally. now we gear up for the summer season - alki beach awaits.

Why Liz, those glasses make you look so sophisticated. And by sophisticated I mean mature. And by mature I mean supercalivagilistic, which is my new favorite word.
