some things - i did not know it was a musical; now i get those nineties gap ads; and even though it clocked in at over two and a half hours, i thought the ending was too abrupt. most of the songs were a bit cheesy for me, and i'm not sure how i feel about non-animated musicals in general, but i did love "america." i guess this film has merit because it tackled some pretty groundbreaking issues for its time: immigration, poverty, gangs, racism, troubled yet stylish youth, etc. plus it's the fourth most-oscar-winningest film ever, so that's something. i think it challenges us all to dream of a better place where we leave the knives at home and let the dance fight our battles for us.
in other listy news: go-karting is happening soon! groupon posted a great deal yesterday for half-off racing sessions. you know that's right.

Um, why did you not tell me about go-karting? I want to go go-karting! Also, we should play whirlyball. Just sayin'.
did you know about/pick up on the modern interpretation of romeo & juliet thing? helps explain the abrupt ending. now I can sing all the songs with/at you when you visit!
1) whirlyball looks rad - there's a court in lynnwood i think?
2) yes, i did pick up on that! but it's not like she off'ed herself too - in which case i would've gotten the abruptness because, you know, they both dead. she just sort of got up and walked away.
This is the first time you've seen West Side Story?! I watched it all the time when I was younger (which, looking back, probably not the best idea). But I used to run around the house singing parts of "America". And Natalie Wood is just lovely
